The Priests and People of Magh Ene Parish here in Ireland, hope that this website will be another way in keeping touch with Parish activities, whether you are at home or far away. For those of you who are housebound and unable to attend Church or Parish Events, we hope that this site will be one of many methods of Parish contact. The World has become very small in recent years due to the simplicity of travel the the development of communication, so we hope that our website will be a way in which those of you who are far from home, can maintain contact with your native Parish.  Magh Ene has two Church's, Church of Our Lady Star of the Sea in Bundoran and St Joseph's Church The Rock in Ballyshannon. Our Online Parish Newsletters will be updated weekly from both our Churches.

We broadcast Mass online from our Church in Bundoran every day and this will bring the celebration of Mass into the homes of the sick and housebound or parishioners and friends who cannot make it home for Funerals.

We hope someday that you will make a personal visit to the Parish of Magh Ene.

You can now Follow us on Facebook for up to date information in the Parish.

The Advent Wreath - Itís Symbolism

The symbolism of the Advent wreath is beautiful. The circle of the wreath, which has no beginning and no end, is used to symbolize the eternity of God, the immortality of the soul and eternal life. The wreath is made from various evergreens, signifying continuous life. The four candles, three purple/violet and one rose/pink represent the four weeks of Advent, one is lit on each of the four Sundays. Each candle represents a 1,000 years and added together they symbolize the 4,000 years, from Adam and Eve to the birth of Christ, the years that humanity waited for the Saviour. The light signifies Christ, the Light of the World..

Each of the four candles on an Advent wreath has their own meaning

The first Sunday of Advent symbolizes Hope with the lighting of the first purple candle, the Prophetís Candle reminding us of the prophecy of the Old Testament that Jesus is coming.

Mapping of Parish Cemeteries

We have now finalised the mapping of graves in our local cemeteries, St Ninnith's Bundoran, Finner Cemetery & The Rock Cemetery Ballyshannon and have added them to our Parish Cemeteries page.

Information will be updated every two years. Detailed information is available on www.irishgraveyards.ie where you can complete a search by inputing the graveyard and the deceased person's name. This will result in providing headstone information and a photograph of the grave for which you are searching.
